Property disputes: Man sets brother’s house on fire; woman killed by husband

The house was set on fire over a property dispute.

CHAMARAJANAGAR, CHIKKABALLAPUR: In separate cases of property disputes, a man set his brother’s house on fire while a woman was murdered by her husband and his second wife’s son.

At Byadamoodlu village in Chamarajanagar taluk, Puttamada Shetty barged into his younger brother Basavanna’s house, started abusing him and suddenly set the house on fire. The two brothers had a long-standing property dispute.

All the belongings in Basavanna’s house, including foodgraint and vessels, were charred in the fire. A case has been registered at the Chamarajanagar East Rural police station.

At Sonnehalli in Sidlaghatta taluk, Padmamma (50) was murdered by her husband Munireddy (60) and his second wife’s son Girish on Tuesday morning. Munireddy killed Padmamma by striking her with a machete.

The woman was killed by her husband over a property dispute.

Padmamma had two sons, but both had died. Munireddy wanted Padmamma to return their share of property, but the woman had approached a court. Angered by this, he killed her. The Sidlaghatta Rural police visited the spot and shifted the body to hospital for autopsy. They also arrested Munireddy and Girish.
