Prohibitory orders imposed in Kembhavi, Surapur for two days

YADGIR: Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of IPC have been imposed in two town in Yadgir district for two days a day after Congress and BJP workers clashed. Prohibitory orders were enforced in Kembhavi and Surapur  from 6 pm on May 10 to 6 am on May 12 to prevent any untoward incidents.

Voting was conducted peacefully in the district on May 10 from morning to evening. But Congress and BJP workers engaged in a clash when polling was drawing to a close on Wednesday. Three Congress workers were seriously injured in the clash and were admitted to hospital.

District Superintendent of Police Dr C B Vedamurthy reviewed the situation and ordered to enforce prohibitory orders for two days. Additional police forces have been stationed in the two towns for two days.

With the prohibitory orders in force in both towns, gathering of five or more persons are prohibited. The police have appealed to people to maintain peace and order and the SP has issued strict warning that action will be taken against violators.
