BENGALURU: The revised power tariff for users who consume more than 100 units per months came into effect today. The Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) had earlier approved the downward revision from April 1, 2024 and the tariff has been reduced by Rs 1.10 per unit.

The downward revision will be applicable for all Escoms in the state from the new financial year and the reduction in power tariff will reflect in the April power bill which is issued in May. The tariff so far was Rs 4.75 per unit up to 100 units and Rs 7 per unit after 100 units. Now, the tariff per unit of electricity after 100 units will be Rs 5.90.

Many of the consumers utilising up to 200 units per month are already covered under the Gruha Jyothi free electricity scheme. The reduction in power tariff will benefit those who utilise more than 100 units of power per month and are not covered under the free electricity scheme.
