Police track down accused in Chandra Layout businessman murder case

BENGALURU: Two days after the murder of a businessman in Chandra Layout, the police have tracked down the accused, who is said to be close to the family.

On Tuesday night, Liaqat Ali Khan was found murdered, allegedly over a financial dispute, at his second house. The accused has been identified as Ikias Khan (25), a friend of Liaqat Ali Khan, who was also close to his family members. It is said that Liaqat treated Ikias as his own brother.

During the investigation, the police noticed blood stains on Liaqat’s ear and sent the sample to the Forensic Laboratory. They had also recovered a pair of scissors from the scene. The report of blood sample and fingerprints on the scissor turned out to be that of the accused.

The police have not yet effected the arrest of Ikias as he is undergoing treatment after consuming thyroid tablets in his attempt to commit suicide.

A case of IPC 309 (suicide attempt) has been registered at J J Nagar police station. Liaqat, who was murdered, had married the previous day for a second time amid opposition from his family. Further investigation is under way.
