BENGALURU: Following actor-politician Ramya’s complaint to city police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh regarding the vulgar and abusive comments to her post from actor Darshan’s fans, the police have registered and FIR against 43 social media accounts at the cyber crime police station.

The police are scrutinising all the 43 accounts mentioned by Ramya in her complaint and are tracking the administrators too. Police sources said preliminary investigation pointed out that at least half of the accounts seemed to be fake ones. They also expressed confidence of nabbing the culprits soon.

Following Ramya’s complaint, some social media accounts of Darshan’s fans have been deleted. Some of those who abused Ramya include 17- and 18-year-olds, sources said. Ramya had produced screenshots of the abusive accounts along with her complaint.

After the Supreme Court came down heavily on the Karnataka High Court over grant of bail to Darshan in the Renukaswamy murder case, Ramya had posted on social media extending support to Renukaswamy’s family. Following this, she was subjected to vulgar and abusive comments.

Meanwhile, Ramya also questioned the silence of other actors over the issue. Except for actors Pratham, Vinay Rajkumar, Chetan and a few others, none of the big names in Sandalwood have spoken up about the issue. Ramya declared that she will fight the issue alone and added that if those posting abusive messages are not dealt with, it will lead to worse consequences.

On Tuesday, the state Congress women’s wing also lodged a complaint with the police commissioner regarding the abusive messages to Ramya and sought suitable action against the culprits.
