Police on the hunt for four more in Praveen Nettaru murder case

MANGALURU: The Dakshina Kannada police, who have arrested two people in connection with the brutal murder of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru, are on the lookout for four more people.

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Alok Kumar said the arrested Zakir Savanur and Shafiq Bellare have links with the People’s Front of India (PFI), but added that the organisation does not maintain membership records.

Referring to Praveen’s oral complaint regarding threat calls about two months ago, the ADGP said Praveen had spoken to some constables and they are in the process of identifying those police personnel.

As regards the Suratkal murder of Mohammed Faizal, the ADGP expressed confidence of nabbing the killers soon. All measures have been taken to ensure peace in the district, he added.

Meanwhile, the two arrested in the Praveen murder case have been remanded to police custody for five days. During their questioning, the police have learnt that more people are involved in the murder. The two were earlier sent to 15 days judicial custody.

The police have learnt that the killers communicated through WhatsApp calls and messages. They are also going throug CCTV footage from 20 cameras and taken the phones of the accused into custody.
