KOPPAL: Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse a huge crowd which rushed towards Congress leader Siddaramaiah’s helicopter just it landed at a helipad at Karatai town in Koppal taluk on Saturday.
A massive crowd had gathered to see Opposition leader Siddaramaiah at the helipad in Karatagi. The Opposition leader arrived there to participate in the Congress’s ‘Praja Dhwani’ programme.
Meanwhile, the chopper in which Siddaramaiah was travelling had missed the location of the new helipad due to lack of communication. Then, Congress leaders communicated with the pilot and directed him to the helipad. It took 10 minutes to locate the helipad to land the chopper.
Though there was a police presence, a huge crowd had gathered around the ground when the chopper was landed and suddenly rushed towards the chopper as it landed. The police had to resort to caning and brought the situation under control.
