Police constable caught red-handed while receiving bribe

BENGALURU: A police constable from the Devanahalli police station was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta while accepting a bribe from a complainant.

Constable Amaresh was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. He, along with PSI Jagadevi and another constable, Manjunath, had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 70,000 to file a chargesheet in a POCSO case lodged against the complainant.

POLICE-CAP - ವಿಜಯವಾಣಿDuring the Lokayukta raid, PSI Jagadevi and constable Manjunath managed to escape. The Lokayukta police, led by SP Vamshi Krishna, conducted an operation and caught Amaresh while accepting the bribe.

The bribe demand was made to file a chargesheet in a POCSO case registered based on a complaint filed by Bhavyashree. The Lokayukta police took action after receiving the complaint and conducted the sting operation. The case is being investigated further.
