CHIKKAMAGALUR: Following the incident in which two people died after being shot by an illegal firearm, the district police have launched a drive to seize all illegal weapons. In just two days, they have managed to seize over 25 legal and illegal weapons.
The police have also raided gunsmiths who repair weapons and recovered a huge quantity of illegal guns, revolvers and ammunition. Six people have also been arrested in this connection.
The raids were conducted in Balehonnur, Balur, Kalasa and N R Pura police limits and 41 unlicenced weapons, 10 licenced rifles, two revolvers, 22 rounds of bullets, cartridges among others were seized.
