BENGALURU: City traffic police have launched a crackdown on school vehicle drivers, keeping a close eye on them. During checks for drunk driving among school vehicle drivers, the police themselves were shocked to see the reading in one case in RR Nagar area. The police caught a driver of a school van driving under the influence of alcohol in the early hours of the morning.
In a shocking revelation, they found 59 drivers completely drunk while driving school vans in the City.
The police conducted a thorough check on 4,559 school vehicles and found many drivers were intoxicated. All 59 drivers’ licences have been suspended. The police have also warned schools that they should not be irresponsible in hiring drivers. Parents are advised to be cautious while sending their children to school in vans, police said.
