Police bust illegal liquor racket, arrest one in Madikeri

MADIKERI: The Kodagu police have succeeded in busting an illegal liquor racket which was producing it in Kodagu for sale in Kerala.

The illegal activity came to light in Bhagamandala police station limits in Madikeri taluk, and the police have arrested Kerala-based Hasim (47), who was residing in Tavur village.

The police conducted the raid on the basis of confirmed information about illegal liquor being prepared in an estate house in Tavur village of Bhagamandala.

The police have seized 60.300 kgs of caustic carmel, 2000 D WE, caps and labels used for making liquor from the accused.

Madikeri subdivision Deputy SP M Jagadish, Rural Circle Inspector Anup Madappa, Bhagamandala PSI Shobha Lamani and the staff formed a special team and conducted a raid.

District Superintendent of Police Ramarajan appreciated the work of the police officers and staff.
