BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested Abhinava Halasree from a train in Cuttack, Odisha, early on Tuesday morning. The godman is wanted in the Chaitra kundapur cheating case.
Halashree was absconding right from the day the FIR was registered against him in Bengaluru. He is from Hosapete in Ballari, and was the lone accused evading the police. He is the third accused in the fraud case.
Chaitra revealed during questioning that she was victimised by not only by the complainant but also by Halasree, who went missing after Chaitra’s arrest.
The CCB sleuths had formed two separate teams to look for the godman.
Sources said that Halashree roamed around Hyderabad for two days. He used to keep changing his location every hour in order to mislead the police.
Chaitra had close contact with the accused for many years.
A few days ago, Chaitra gave a sudden twist to the fraud case by naming Halasree in front of the media while getting down from a police vehicle. “Let the police arrest Abhinava Halasree and the truth will come out. The names of big people will also be revealed. This is a conspiracy to cover up the pending bill of the Indira Canteen”, she had said.
The CCB police will bring Halasree to Bengaluru around midnight today by road after producing him in a local court.
