Police arrest five for kidnapping mobile shop owner for Rs 5 lakh ransom, assaulting him

BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested five people who kidnapped a mobile shop owner on SP Road, demanded Rs 5 lakh and even assaulted him.

The gang kidnapped mobile shop owner Kalu Singh posing as CCB personnel and had demanded Rs 5 lakh from him. They threatened Singh alleging that he was selling ganja.

Kalu Singh was kidnapped two days ago by Mohammed Qasim Sait and gang. They blindfolded Singh and took him to a deserted place where they assaulted him, questioning him whether he sells ganja and demanded money for his release.

When Kalu Singh did not agree to pay up, Qasim called the police. When the police scolded the kidnappers, they released Singh.

A complaint was filed by Kalu Singh at V V Puram police station and a Non-Cognizable Register (NCR) was filed. Then, an FIR was registered by the station house officer after informing the CCB.
