POCSO court sentences man to 20 years in jail for sexually abusing minor boy

An accused of sexual abuse with small child gets sentence 20 years imprisonment with penalty.

KARWAR: A POCSO Special Court (children-friendly court) has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 1 lakh  for sexually abusing the minor boy.

Twenty-eight-year-old Khasim, a fisherman and a resident of Hini village in Kumta taluk, was accused of having sexual intercourse with a six-year-old boy. He had allegedly kidnapped the neighbour’s child while he was playing, took him to an isolated area and sexually abused the boy.

The incident came to light after the parents found the child bleeding. A case was registered on March 15, 2022 at the Kumata police station.

After hearing the arguments from both sides, the child-friendly court in Karwar sentenced the accused. Police Inspector Thimmappa and Sub-Inspector Naveen had arrested the accused and investigated the case before filing a chargesheet with the evidence.
