POCSO court sends man to 43 years in prison for sexually assaulting minor

MYSURU: A Special POCSO court here has convicted a man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor girl to 43 years of rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.

Special court judge Shayma Khamroz convicted Nazeem, a native of Bihar for repeatedly sexually assaulting a minor girl who was 10 years old in 2021. The judge also ordered the authorities to provide Rs 7 lakh as compensation to the victim.

The case had been registered at the Women’s Rural police station and Inspector Jeevan headed the investigation. Special Public Prosecutor K B Jayanthi argued on behalf of the state.
