BENGALURU: The Aero India air show, to be held in Bengaluru in February 2023, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Wednesday.
Speaking after inaugurating Collins Aerospace Global Engineering and Technology Centre, Bommai said that since it will be an international event, the proposed air show must showcase aerospace research, air travel, opportunities and possibilities in aircraft industry in Bengaluru.
He said that Indian engineers have proved their capabilities in aerospace engineering and had wished that all parts of aircraft must be manufactured in Bengaluru, which has now become a reality. Bengaluru is an ideal location for the aerospace sector as there are institutions like the DRDO, NAL and HAL. Besides, there are international level R&D institutions in the fields of aerospace, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and semiconductors in Bengaluru, he noted.
Bommai said that it is a momentous occasion that Collins Aerospace Engineering Institution has completed 25 years of its existence in Bengaluru. This will show the achievement of the company which has emerged as an important engineering centre. It must work to bring fame not only to India, but also to Karnataka. “The aerospace sector is very special as it will take human beings to a different world. An individual’s mind can be extended to a certain level, but nearly 80 per cent of intelligence is not used”, the CM said.
Collins Aerospace chairman Stephen Teams, Department of Industry and Commerce chairman Gunjan Krishna and others were present.
