BENGALURU: The long wait has finally come to an end with the first phase of the much-awaited Pink Line of Namma Metro to be inaugurated on November 13. Bangalore South MP Tejasvi Surya has shared on his X account that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Pink Line Metro route.
Not only that, after the inauguration, PM Narendra Modi will travel in the Metro from Tavarekere to IIMB Bilekahalli. This has brought much cheer for Bengalureans as the inauguration of the pink line had missed several deadlines.
It’s official! A historic milestone for Bengaluru! 🩷
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate Namma Metro’s Pink Line on November 13. He will travel from Tavarekere to IIMB-Bilekahalli Station and launch the services.
With this, Bengaluru Metro will cross the 100 km milestone, reaching 103.6 km and becoming India’s second-largest Metro network after Delhi!
In 2014, Bengaluru had just 7 km of operational Metro. Today, that network has grown nearly 15-fold, with over 96 km added since 2014.
Prime Minister Modi has consistently prioritised Bengaluru’s infrastructure and connectivity, making this remarkable transformation possible.
This is another major step towards easing traffic congestion, improving quality of life and building a Bengaluru where public transport comes first.
A big day for Bengaluru. Many more milestones ahead!

In the first phase, a 7.5-kilometre-long elevated Metro route from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere will be opened for public service. There are six stations in this route and the Metro service will start at Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIMB, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital and Tavarekere stations.

The full Pink Line project is exactly 21.3-kilometre-long and will connect Nagavara in North Bengaluru to Kalena Agrahara in South Bengaluru. Of this, 7.5 kilometre is elevated route, while the remaining 13.8 kilometre is underground.

After first phase traffic starts, interchange facility with Yellow Line will also be available for passengers at Jayadeva Hospital Metro Station. Metro travel is expected to give big relief to people of areas suffering from traffic problem including Bannerghatta Road, Hulimavu, JP Nagar.

Once the pink line starts functioning, Bengaluru’s Metro network will achieve an important milestone of crossing 100-kilometre mark. Along with saving travel time of Bengalureans, this route will also give relief from traffic congestion.
