Piyush Goyal meets MSME representatives in Hubballi, seeks suggestions for election manifesto

HUBBALLI: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry and senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal on Sunday participated in a meeting of MSME representatives in Hubballi and sought suggestions from them for preparing the election manifesto.

While taking inputs during the meeting, the union minister said the double engine government will take Karnataka to a $1 trillion size state economy. He also noted that Hubballi is turning out to be a startup hub. The meeting was organised by BJP’s manifesto committee. The Assembly elections are slated to be in a couple of months.

The Union Minister also interacted with members of the Belgaum Chamber of Commerce and Industries. “Urged them to focus on economies of scale & benefit from the immense untapped opportunities available for Karnataka in New India”, he tweeted.

Further, minister Goyal visited the world’s longest railway platform at the Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Hubballi Station. Sanjeev Kishore, General Manager South Western Railway extended a warm welcome to Goyal and briefed the minister about the major improvements undertaken in recent times and the scope for future improvement.

Sanjeev Kishore mentioned that recently the Guinness Book of World Records has recognised the platform at Hubballi Junction, measuring 1,507 mt, as the longest railway platform in the world. Kishore pointed out that the remodelled yard and the longest platform would cater to growing transport needs of Hubballi city.

Goyal appreciated the feat of South Western Railway in constructing the longest railway platform in the world. He also praised the upkeep and beautification of the station with murals depicting local art, culture and heritage. Mayor Eeresh Anchatageri too accompanied the minister. (ANI)
