VIJAYAPURA: A pehelwan’s aide suffered a broken leg during a stone lifting competition held at Basavana Bagewadi on Wednesday. The event had been organised as part of the Basavanna temple fair.

The 175 kg stone fell on the leg of the pehelwan’s assistant while putting it down.

Pehelwan Chandrashekar Yalwar had lifted a 175 kg stone on his shoulder and while putting it down, his aide Shivanagouda Patil came to assist him. However, the massive stone crushed Shivanagouda Patil’s right leg.

The pehelwan’s aide was shifted to a hospital in Miraj in neighbouring Maharashtra where doctors have inserted two rods in his leg.
