BIDAR: A physical education teacher at a private school in Humnabad has been arrested under the POCSO Act and sent to judicial custody after allegations of torturing students came to light. The accused has been identified as Ramesh.
Students alleged that the physical education teacher would take two hours of extra classes after school hours and if the students don’t do as told, he would remove their trousers and make them run in the school compound. He would also abuse them in foul language and hit them with a plastic pipe, they alleged.
The incident occurred about two weeks ago at the Nagareshwari Higher Primary and High School in Humnabad and the school management lodged a complaint after coming to know about the torture.
Humnabad Deputy SP Nyamegoudar, along with Women and Child Development Department officials, visited the school and heard the students. He also advised the teachers to report any such instance of abuse to the authorities.
