YADGIR: A driver was caught driving a government bus in a drunken stupor. The incident took place in Kembhavi in the district on Saturday. The public transport belongs to the Jevargi depot under Kalaburagi division.
Luckily, Kashim Patel, the bus driver, stopped it beside the Narayanpur Left Bank Canal near Kembhavi. If he had lost control of the bus, it would have fallen into the canal. A huge disaster was averted by the presence of mind of the passengers.
The bus was immediately stopped by the passengers, who got off and took the driver to task. The passengers were shocked on seeing the plight of the driver as he could not even manage to stand on his feet. On seeing the condition of the driver, conductor Ambarish himself drove the bus on its onward journey.
