On Monday, a college youth named Pavan Kalyan stabbed 19-year-old girl Layasmita to death after she allegedly rejected his proposal. Enraged, he called her to come out of the classroom. When she came to him to the ground floor, he suddenly stabbed her with a knife multiple times and later stabbed himself in the chest in an attempt to commit suicide.

The girl died on the spot while the boy undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at a private hospital.

Rajkumar, an uncle of Layasmita claimed, “This shows failure of security and negligence of the college management. Even parents of the students are also not allowed inside the campus without prior notice, and that too after confirmation. In such a case, how could the boy enter? As this is a reputed college, how can a student from another college enter the campus, that too with a knife? More than 17,000 students are studying here. We feel that there is no protection for other children. We have filed a complaint against the management and the security. Such a thing should not happen to other students. We demand justice and the accused should be punished”.
