PURBA BARDHAMAN (West Bengal): After the Directorate of Enforcement’s (ED) huge cash haul in Jharkhand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday alleged that the opposition has a “track record” of corruption.
Addressing a public rally in Bardhaman-Durgapur Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal, Shah targeted Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee accusing her party of a “cut money culture”.
“The opposition has a track record of corruption, whereas Modi Ji doesn’t have even a single such blot throughout his political career. TMC is fully immersed in ‘cut money’ culture and makes infiltrators its vote bank. Mamata Banerjee should be ashamed of her activities”, the Union Home Minister said.

“INDI Alliance has done corruption of Rs 12 lakh crore. From the houses of didi’s ministers, cash worth Rs 50 crore were recovered. In Jharkhand, from the house of a Congress MP, Rs 350 crore of cash was recovered. Just last night, in Jharkhand, Rs 30 crore was recovered from the house of a minister. PM Modi has been a CM and a PM for the last 23 years and there is not a single allegation of even 25 paise on him”, he added.
He further alleged that the TMC chief has opened a “new industry of crime” in the industrial town of Durgapur. Shah also hit out at TMC over the Sandeshkhali incident involving its former legislator. “Didi has been campaigning for 15 days to defeat BJP in Durgapur. It is my challenge that she can stay here for 5 years, but cannot win Durgapur. Didi has opened a new industry of crime in the industrial town of Durgapur”, he said.
“In Sandeshkhali, TMC leaders tortured hundreds of our sisters based on religion. Mamata Didi was not ready to arrest the criminals of Sandeshkhali. Even after the High Court’s order, the investigation was not done, so the High Court handed over the investigation to the CBI. Mamta Didi, you should be ashamed, you are a woman Chief Minister and hundreds of mothers and sisters were tortured right under your nose, but you did not even bat an eyelid”, Shah added.
He further alleged that Mamata Banerjee did not attend the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at Ram Mandir in Ayodhya because she was “afraid” of her vote bank.
“Mamata Banerjee and her nephew were invited to the Ram Mandir Prana Pratishtha, but they did not go. Do you know why they did not go? Let me tell you, they are afraid of their vote bank. These people who have come here by infiltration are their (TMC) vote bank, Mamata Didi is afraid of this,” he said.
“Opposition has cared neither for people’s safety nor the country’s security. These people (TMC) run cut money, and create their vote bank by infiltration. Mamata Didi, you should be ashamed, you encourage infiltration in the border state and make the infiltrators your vote bank”, he added.
Shah held a roadshow in West Bengal’s Nadia earlier in the day that witnessed the participation huge crowd of supporters.
West Bengal, which sends 42 MPs, to Parliament, is voting in all seven phases. Polling for six Lok Sabha seats in Bengal was held across the first two phases on April 19 and 26. Polling for the remaining parliamentary seats will be held on May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. (ANI)
