MANDYA: One person died on the spot and another was seriously injured after the car in which they were travelling plunged into the Visvesvaraya Canal (VC) near Avverahalli today morning. The deceased was identified as Nandish (19), a resident of Doddabyadarahalli village.
The car plunged about 25 feet into the dry canal as there was no parapet wall on the bridge and the driver lost control. The condition of the injured is said to be serious and he has been admitted to the MIMS hospital in Mandya.
“The car fell into the canal. One person in the car died on the spot, another was seriously injured. The incident happened near Avverahalli village in Mandya taluk”, police said.
According to the police, the car lost control and fell from the bridge into the waterless canal. The deceased has been sent to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences Mortuary. Further investigation is under way.
