BENGALURU: One person died on the spot and three people were severely injured in a serial accident caused by a speeding Toyota Innova SUV on Nrupatunga Road on Monday.
The speeding car ran over head of a biker, who died on the spot while the pillion rider sustained injuries in the legs. The deceased was identified as Majid Khan (39), a resident of HBR Layout who runs an automobile spares store. The pillion rider Riyaz sustained fractures in the legs and injuries in the head. He is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Commuters and advocates shifted the injured to hospital.

According to eyewitnesses, the Innova car (KA 50 MA 6600) also hit three other two-wheelers and two cars, leaving two others injured. Interestingly, the car, registered in the name of Ramu Suresh, had the legislature pass of Sagar MLA Hartal Halappa stuck on the windscreen. The pass was later removed by some unidentified people. Only the driver was in the car at the time of the accident.
The Halasur Gate Traffic police seized the car and arrested the car driver after taking him for a medical test.
