RAMANAGARA: One person has been arrested and an FIR booked against eight people by the Ramanagara Cyber Crime Police for misusing digital signature of officials on Friday.
The accused Manjunath is a Group-D employee at the post-matric boys hostel at Avverahalli in Ramnagara taluk. He was also working as Group ‘D’ employee at Ramanagara taluk office. He is accused of siphoning off Rs 76 lakh by misusing the Treasury-2 DS digital key. He was arrested based on a complaint from the Backward Classes Welfare Department.
According to the police, Manjunath siphoned off the money between 2019 and 2022 and had deposited it in the bank accounts of his wife and relatives. He also invested money on a new house and spent it on gambling.
