Ola fares up three times in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Though the Karnataka State Transport Department has fixed a uniform fares for taxis, including Uber and Ola, the app-based aggregator Ola has increased fares by three times for their cab and autorickshaw services.

Customers are shocked by the hike in Ola service charges which is about three times higher than the previous price. Earlier, they charged Rs 24 for every 2 km, but now they charge Rs 60-Rs 65 for 800 meters. Customers claim this is nothing but extortion in broad daylight.

Ola fares for taxis and autorickshaw services :

Ola is now charging Rs 108 for car, Rs 50-53 for auto, for a distance of 1.2 km between Town Hall and KR Market.

From Town Hall to Majestic, a distance of about 2.1 km, the fare is Rs 78 to Rs 82 for autorickshaw services and Rs 178 for Prime SUV car.

Ola is charging fares of Rs 108 for car, Rs 50-Rs 53 for the route between Jayanagar to South End Circle, a distance of about 900 metres.

The fare for a car is Rs 108, for autorickshaw, it is Rs 53 for a distance of 840 metres from Chikpet Metro station to Market Metro station.

Auto charges of Rs 78-82 has been fixed for a distance of about 2.1 km between  Town Hall and National College Metro station.

The Transport Department has fixed uniform fares for all aggregators based on the cost of the vehicles. The government order clearly states that no cab aggregators will be allowed to collect extra charges, but only a few drivers are following the rules.

For vehicles whose purchase cost is Rs 10 lakh or below, the minimum fare has been fixed at Rs 24 for every km. For those vehicles costing between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, the minimum fare per km is Rs 28, and for those costing more than Rs 15 lakh, the minimum fare is Rs 32 per additional kilometre.
