HASSAN: In a show of authority, power and arrogance, Assistant Commissioner Jagadish slapped a government employee, Shivegowda, on Monday for rushing into the Hasanamba temple instead of waiting in the queue.
Shivegowda works at the Hassan zilla panchayat. He had come with his family for darshan of Goddess Hasanamba. But even as Jagadish was entering the temple from the VIP entrance, Shivegowda suddenly rushed in.
Angered by Shivegowda’s behaviour, Jagadish pulled him back and slapped him. He also abused Shivegowda in foul language. A video clip of the incident has now gone viral on social media.
Shivegowda showed his identity card, but the AC took off his ID card from his neck and shouted at him. Shivegowda later complained to the district government employees’ union and demanded the immediate suspension of AC Jagadish for insulting him in public and in front of his family.
In a later development, a meeting was held between AC Jagadish, Shivegowda and the district government employees’ union president Krishnegowda at the ZP guest house.
The AC convinced them that he committed the act under pressure and expressed regret. The issue was then resolved.
Meanwhile, Primary Education Minister B C Nagesh also visited the Hasanamba temple and took the blessings Goddess on Monday with his family.
