BENGALURU: Citizens of Bengaluru can now lodge traffic-related complaints on the Namma 112 emergency helpline, city police commissioner B Dayananda announced on Friday morning.

In a tweet from the official handle, he said traffic-related complaints will be handled by the Cobra traffic police squads instead of the Hoysala teams. This move follows a suggestion by a citizen at last month’s public interaction, he noted.

While some netizens appreciated the initiative, there was some scepticism of whether traffic complaints will be attended to by the traffic police. There were also suggestions to crack down on youngsters popping wheelies and driving on the wrong side of the roads.

On June 24, the police commissioner had participated in a public interaction organised in the north zone and had directed police officials to attend to citizens’ issues. This month, the meeting will be held on July 22 at teh Thirupathi Convention Hall in Hanumanthanagar from 11 am to 1 pm.
