BELAGAVI: While women across the state are getting the benefit of the Shakti free bus travel scheme, about 20 villages in PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s home district are denied the facility. Reason: With no good, wide roads, the road transport corporation is hesitant to ply buses.

The transport corporation says the roads are not good to ply buses.

Women and children in 20 villages are left with no bus facility as the transport corporation officials insist that they will run buses if the roads are fixed. The women and children are forced to trudge to schools by foot or to the nearest place where bus facility is available.
