BENGALURU: After a gap of three years, the city has yet again witnessed no rain for two consecutive months in February and March. Usually, the city records an average of 7.1 mm of rain in February and 14.7 mm in March.
This year, the city has not recorded any rain in February and March. While it normally sees 61.7 mm of rain in April, the weather department says there may be no chance of rain till after mid-April. The Met department has also cautioned that the maximum temperature may rise by 2 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
The Met department has also cautioned people of heat wave in north-interior and south-interior Karnataka and said that the temperature will be high for the next two months.
On Thursday, Kalaburagi recorded the highest temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, the city recorded 43.3 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperature recorded in the state is at Chikkanahalli at 21.1 degrees Celsius. Bagalkot recorded 42.3 degrees Celsius while Koppal witnessed a maximum temperature of degrees Celsius in the state on Thursday.
Bengaluru recorded 36.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday and 37.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The temperature at Kempegowda International Airport was 36.5 degrees Celsius.
In the BBMP limits, the maximum temperature was 38.60 degrees Celsius in RR Nagar zone, 37 degrees Celsius in East zone, 34.9 degrees Celsius in Yelahanka, 35.90 degrees Celsius in Bengaluru South, 36.6 degrees Celsius in Dasarahalli, 36.7 degrees Celsius in Bommanahalli, 34.8 degrees Celsius in Mahadevapura and 35.8 degrees Celsius in West zone.
The Met department has also forecast moderate rainfall for four days from April 6 in some parts of the state including Dakshina Kannada, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Kodagu, Mandya and Mysuru districts. Rain in expected on April 7 in Bengaluru, Hassan and Tumakuru districts while the coastal districts and north-interior Karnataka is expected to experience rainfall on April 9.
