Devnani said, “Her wisdom and courageous act is going to make all of us aware. Giving CPR within five to six minutes of a heart attack can save the person’s life and he can be taken to the hospital on time.”
CPR, which stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is performed during cardiac arrest when the heart stops beating or beats too ineffectively to circulate blood to the brain and other vital organs.
“CPR is a technique that is used when heartbeat stops and blood flow to any part of the body stops, or when blood flow to our brain stops, irreversible damage starts,” Dr Priya said noting that CPR administered within a few minutes of a person suffering a heart attack can increase in the chances of reviving patients.
