UDUPI: After the political retirement of BJP stalwart B S Yediyurappa, the question is being debated is whether the state BJP is facing a lack of leadership.

In the meantime, there was rumour spreading in the political circle that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had contacted former CM Jagadish Shettar, who had joined the Congress ahead of the Assembly election.

Clarifying about the rumours of the phone call,  Shettar said, “No one has called me so far; neither Amit Shah nor other leaders”, he said in reply to the query. He stressed that he has not received any call from the BJP high command.

“Why are all these discussions happening when no such calls were made? I will inform the media if they call me. There is mishandling and mismanagement in the BJP. Leaders like us have been thrown out of the party. The state BJP is leaderless now. A lot of people in the BJP are suffering”, he said and added that many in the BJP are ready to leave the party.
