BENGALURU: Residents and activists near the Shivanagar flyover along West of Chord Road in Rajajinagar have filed a complaint with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) after pillars of two newly constructed flyovers developed cracks and part of it appeared damaged.

Two newly constructed flyovers on West of Chord Road developed crack.

The residents have demanded that vehicle movement be restricted till the quality of work on the flyover is checked. The two flyovers are part of an integrated West of Chord Road to ease traffic. The flyovers Shivanagar and Manjunathnagar connect nearby areas, but the cracks in the pillars pose a major threat.

Sundaresh, a Sri Rama Sene leader, has warned of protest if the flyovers are not fixed.

“Since the start of road and flyover construction, there have always been problems. They completed the project within six months. If the flyover collapses, all the buildings nearby will be affected. If the BBMP does not fix the problems immediately, we will stage a protest in front of the corporation office”, said Sundaresh, a Sri Rama Sene leader.

“Every day, the flyover is sinking inch by inch. The columns and pillars of the flyover are bulging. We contacted the chief engineer and others orally and informed them about the issue. We have also given a written complaint to the BBMP officials, but no one has responded. They should immediately check the quality of the flyover. We will wait for another three to four days for their response”, said S Bhaskar, president of Vishwa Sanathana Parishath.
