THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devasom Board President PS Prashant on Sunday clarified on the distribution of ‘Aravana’ (Prasada) to the pilgrims.
“At present, there is no control on distributing Aravana at Sabarimala temple. During the Mandal season, we have given an agreement to a Maharashtra company for supplying the jaggery needed. Every day, 32 tonnes of jaggery is been supplied,” Prashant said speaking at a press conference.
“We have also decided to conduct local purchas of jaggery. We will open the tender for the supply of jaggery tomorrow and once we get the tender, we will be purchasing 5 lakh kilograms of jaggery. We hope there will be efficient supply and now it is running smoothly,” he further said.
Prashant further added that till December 23, 25,69,671 pilgrims have visited Sabarimala. Spot booking has gone up to 10,000 and if needed, the Travancore Devasom Board can decide to increase it to 15,000. (ANI)
