No attacks on Kannadigas, says Goa CM

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has denied that Kannadigas were attacked in his state.

BAGALKOT: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday rejected claims that Kannadigas living in Goa had been attacked.

Speaking to media persons at Hipparagi, Sawant said Kannadigas are living independently in Goa for many years. “Just yesterday, I took part in a Kannada convention. There have been no attacks on Kannadigas. Goans in Karnataka and Kannadigas in Goa face no problems. More than anything, we are all Indians first”, he said.

Referring to the Assembly polls in Karnataka next year, the Goa CM said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP will form government in all the states. “The double engine governments in the state and at the Centre are giving good administration. In the last four years, various development activities have been taken up in Karnataka. Hence, the BJP will return to power”, hesaid, exuding confidence.

Earlier, the Goa CM inaugurated the 91st spiritual week celebrations of Sadhguru Samarth Sangameshwara Maharaj at Hipparagi in Rabkavi-Banahatti taluk.

Srikshetra Inchageri Mutt’s Prabhuji Maharaj, Kaneri Mutt’s Kadasiddeshwara Basavaswami, other religious leaders, Terdal MLA Siddu Savadi, Jamakhandi MLA Anand Nyamagouda were present.
