BENGALURU: At least nine vehicles, including four cars, four autorickshaw and a two-wheeler were damaged after a BMTC electric bus (EV Bus) caused a serial accident near the Chinnaswamy Stadium around 11.30 am on Saturday. The bus driver suffered a seizure which is suspected to have caused the accident.

The bus driver lost control and crashed into the vehicles stopped at a traffic signal. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured, but the vehicles were damaged.

A case has been registered at the Cubbon Park police station and the bus driver was taken into custody. The incident has sparked outrage among the victims, who claim that the bus driver was negligent and that the BMTC is not taking adequate care in hiring drivers.

Naveen, who owns a Hyundai Creta car, which damaged in the accident, expressed his anger, saying that the BMTC hires unqualified drivers, which leads to such accidents. “The driver seemed too young and was driving it at high speed. It seems he had some health issues. Everybody was panicking after seeing how fast he was driving. The company hires people like tthis and puts our lives at risk. Several people, including and auto driver, suffered minor injuries, and they were shifted to the hospital for treatment”.

He demanded that the authorities take responsibility for the damages and ensure that drivers are properly trained and screened before being hired.
