NIA nabs mastermind of banned PFI from Telangana

BENGALURU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested the mastermind of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI), Syed Mohammed Younus, from Telangana. Younus is alleged to have been imparting weapons training to some youths in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh while staying in Ballari.

Younus had escaped from his house in Ballari when the NIA conducted a raid in 2022. He later shifted his entire family to Telangana and started living under the name of Basheer and used to do plumbing work. He also the coordinator for other trainers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Younus was the prime accused in the Nizamabad PFI case which was registered by the Telangana police and later transferred to the NIA. The anti-terror agency is questioning Younus and is on the lookout for his aide Ilyas.
