NHAI workers attacked over dust emanating from road work near Bantwal, vehicle damaged

MANGALURU: About 20 employees of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were injured and a surveillance vehicle was damaged after villagers attacked them over dust emanating from road construction near Kaikamba close to BC Road in Bantwal taluk on Tuesday night.

The NHAI has taken up work on the National Highway-75 in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district. Angered by the dust emanating from the ongoing work, some locals attacked the NHAI workers at its site office by throwing stones and whatever they could lay their hand on. While 20 workers sustained injuries, a patrol vehicle was also damaged.

The Bantwal Town police have registered a case.
