New ambulance service coming in state; GVK can’t participate in tender process

BENGALURU: Confusion prevails over the the continuation of the 108 ambulance service in the state, being provided by GVK EMRI with the government planning to invite fresh tenders for the ambulance service.

There were a number of allegations and complaints against GVK EMRI. The staff had even gone on strike as they were not getting their wages. In the meantime, finally all these issues, the government has dropped GVK from the tender process.

 

The company, however, had indirectly participated in the tender that was called three months ago. However, the government rejected the proposal and cancelled the tender process. A new committee has been formed instead of a tender process.

The committee will include experts like the IIIT director, Nimhans director, former chancellor of VTU, Labour Department commissioner, and Indian Institute of Science experts (IISc). The committee members has drafted the features of the 108 ambulance system, facilities to be provided good health service, and guidelines to follow.
