Nepali couple accused of stealing Rs 7 lakh cash, gold from ‘Malnad Gandhi’ Govinde Gowda’s house

CHIKKAMAGALUR: A Nepali couple has been accused of stealing cash and gold ornaments from the house of late H G Govinde Gowda, who was popularly known as the ‘Malnad Gandhi’, from the Manipur Estate in Koppa taluk.

According to the complaint lodged by Govinde Gowda’s son Venkatesh, the Nepali couple had joined work at the house as domestic helps about two weeks ago. When the family members were asleep, the couple made away with over Rs 7 lakh in cash and gold ornaments, the complaint said.

The Koppal police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the couple.
