National Youth Festival: Security breach at PM’s roadshow in Hubballi

HUBBALLI: A 12-year-old boy was pulled away by the local police after he breached the security cover of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to present him a garland during the latter’s roadshow on Thursday.

In a video clip, the boy, identified as Kunal Suresh of Torvi Hakkal in Old Hubballi, was seen running towards PM Modi with a garland in his hand. He tried to felicitate the PM when the Special Protection Group (SPG) intercepted and immediately blocked him. The SPG personnel took the garland and handed it to PM Modi, who took it and placed it inside the car.

It is not yet known how the boy managed to get so close to PM Modi during his road show. Before the arrival of the PM, the state police is responsible for inspecting and clearing area thoroughly for security reasons.

The PM’s roadshow was held for about 8 km in the city. People welcomed him all along the route and showered him with flowers as he rode in his cavalcade. Many people standing in the road shouted slogans like ‘Jai Modi’, ‘Modi, Modi’. The roadshow was held before the inauguration of the National Youth Festival.

An unknown Volkswagen car was seen parked and later it was shifted to the North zone traffic police station.

Earlier in the day, a Volkswagen car was seen parked in the city’s Hosur Cross. The car was in the name of Makaranda from Sangli district of Maharashtra. The police waited for the owner and shifted it to the North zone traffic police station for security reasons, as the owner did not turn up.
