BENGALURU: There’s something more to cheer for Namma Metro commuters. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has planned to start a new scheme to buy unlimited bulk Metro tickets for a group in the city.
In recent days, groups of travellers commuting by Namma Metro has increased. Bulk tickets can be purchased from thousands to lakhs at a time. The BMRCL board, at a recent meeting, took the decision regarding bulk tickets and they have planned to fix the price on the basis of kilometres for the convenience of commuters.
What is BMRCL’s bulk ticket plan?
- At a time, from 5,000 to more than 1 lakh Namma Metro tickets can be purchased for large group of travellers.
- A fixed discount will be given based on kilometres
- Namma Metro commuters can use these tickets for wedding guests, birthday parties, political rallies and family functions.
- Event organisers can buy bulk tickets and distribute them to participants.
- Tickets can be bought in bulk and distributed along with invitation cards.
- Namma Metro bulk tickets can be purchased for cricket matches and flower shows.
“Previously, we offered a 10 per cent discount on 25 tickets. Many people travel in groups, especially tourists. They may be groups of 500 or 1,000 for different occasions like cricket matches, marriage functions and political rallies. We have a demand for bulk tickets, so we have planned to make a policy for the convenience of the people. The order has not been issued and the process is going on for it. We have planned for three categories of bulk tickets”, said Anjum Parwez, BMRCL MD.
