BENGALURU: The countdown to New Year celebrations has begun, and party lovers are gearing up for the revelry. Popular spots in the city such as MG Road and Indiranagar are expected to attract large crowds. Many people are likely to rely on the Namma Metro for transportation back home after the revelry.

To ensure smooth and safe journey for passengers, the Metro authorities have made special arrangements. Additional trains will be operated and the staff strength has been doubled at major stations.

The authorities are also prepared to deal with trouble-makers after consuming alcohol. Special teams have been formed to keep an eye on such individuals for indecent behaviour and strict action will be taken against those who create ruckus.

According to Yashavanth Chavan, Chief Public Relations Officer, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the Metro staff will perform normal duties until the entry points and then take action against those who cause trouble inside the Metro trains. If the Metro staff, at any station, find someone causing trouble, they will immediately impose a fine on the spot. If the person continues to cause trouble, further action will be taken, he said.

The BMRCL has urged passengers to cooperate with the Metro staff and maintain discipline during the New Year celebrations.
