Namma Metro plans to start services on new routes by September this year

BENGALURU: There’s something more to cheer for Namma metro commuters. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has planned to expand the Namma Metro services in the city by the end of this year.

The Namma Metro is used by lakhs of people in the city for their daily commute. While Metro connectivity is available in most parts of the city, work is still going on in some places. This year, Metro services will be launched on the four main lines under Phase-2 as the work has been completed almost. In September, the service will extend up to 40 km.

Namma Metro plans to expand its services in Bengaluru by the end of this year.

The ‘Namma Metro’ service from Bayappanahlli to Whitefield, a distance of 15.18 km, will start in March while from Kengeri to Chalaghatta, which is 2 km, will start in May. In August, Metro plans to start the service from Nagasandra to Madawara, a distance of 3.14 km and from R V road to Bommasandra, a distance of 19.1 km, from September 2023.

The BMRCL officials have said that no new ‘Namma Metro’ services will be open after this year as most of the work has to be completed.
