Mysuru district administration withdraws Rajyotsava award given to Congress leader

The Rajyotsava award given to Congress leader Ashoka M K was withdrawn after his name was found to be on the rowdy list.

MYSURU: The district administration has withdrawn the Rajyotsava award given to a Congress leader after his name figured in the list of history-sheeters. The move comes two days after Public TV reported about his criminal antecedents.

 

District Deputy Commissioner Rajendra said that though the Rajyotsava award is given at the state level, contributions of individuals in different fields are also recognised at the district level and awards given based on the recommendation of a committee.

“Congress leader M K Ashoka’s name was added at the last minute and the poilce report was received after the award was presented to him. After we came to know about his criminal antecedents, the assistant director of the Kannada and Culture Department issued an order withdrawing the award”, the DC said.
