CHIKKAMAGALUR: A Muslim man, who had faked his identity, and a Hindu woman, who had checked into a lodge in Sringeri, have been arrested by the Sringeri police.
Abdul Samad, a resident of Magundi near Balehonnur in NR Pura taluk, had faked his identity as Ramesh. He had checked into a lodge along with a 38-year-old Hindu woman, who hails from Sringeri taluk, claiming to be husband and wife.
Alert locals and the lodge staff immediately informed the Sringeri police, who have arrested both Samad and the woman and registered a case. Further investigation is under way.
