Mule account holder arrested in digital arrest scam case

BENGALURU: A Kerala man, who was lured with the promise of Rs 10,000 per month to act as a mule account in a digital arrest scam has been arrested by the police. The accused was identified as Ajayan.

The person who was carrying out ‘digital arrest’ scams from Dubai had taken over Ajayan’s account saying that he would give Ajayan Rs 10,000 per month. Tempted by the offer, Ajayan gave his account details.

Sitting in Dubai, the scammers carried out ‘digital arrest’ and transferred Rs 2.5 crore into Ajayan’s account in a single day. Acting on the information, the police arrested the account holder and further investigation is under way.
