NEW DELHI: Bengaluru South BJP MP Tejasvi Surya held a meeting with officials of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in Delhi on Monday to review the status of the Bengaluru Metro Phase 3 project. Surya said the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is still awaiting the revised detailed project report from the Karnataka government.
In a post on X, Tejaswi Surya stated, “Held a detailed meeting with the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Urban Affairs, to discuss the progress related to Bangalore Metro Phase 3. I was informed that the Ministry is awaiting the revised DPR from the state government. Despite multiple reminders over the last month, the revised DPR has not yet been sent by the state government. Even as the DPR is awaited, MoHUA has started parallel consultations with other stakeholders and departments to expedite the approval”, he added.
The BJP MP said that MoHUA officials have assured their full cooperation in the project. “I stressed to the officers the critical importance of phase 3 Metro for Bengaluru South and how it is going to ease commute for lakhs of people. They assured their full support. Everything will be done to expedite the approval for the DPR”, he posted further.
Namma Metro, Bengaluru’s Metro train network, has witnessed a remarkable surge in passenger numbers following the commencement of full train services on the entire Purple Line. The Purple Line metro extension service started between KR Pura (Krishnaraja Pura) and Byappanahalli. The line also connects the key residential area of Whitefield to the Central Business District of Bengaluru. It was built at a cost of Rs 363.48 crore. (ANI)
