More rain forecast for Bengaluru in coming days, yellow alert for 13 districts

The Met department has forecast more rain for the coming days.

BENGALURU: Many parts of the city received moderate to heavy rain on Sunday night, with the city recording 1.27 cm of rainfall. Billekahalli in Bommanahalli zone recorded the most rain at 4.25 cm and the weather department has forecast more rain for the Monday. The Met department has also issued a rain alert for all districts for the next five days.

Many areas including Rajajinagar, Mahalakshmi Layout, Malleswaram, Seshadripuram, Basaveshwara nagar, Majestic, Magadi Road, RT Nagar, Jayamahal, Chickpet witnessed rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. HAL recorded 23.4 mm of rain, Bengaluru city 14.4 mm, Bajpe 2 mm, Chitradurga 21 mm, Gadag, 0.1 mm of rain.

In Bommanahalli zone, 12 trees were uprooted while RR Nagar zone reported eight tree falls. Doresanipalya recorded 3.85 mm of rain, BTM Layout 3.1 mm, Bommanahalli 2.6 cm, Areker 2.55 cm, Singasandra 2.2 cm, Gottigere 1.7 cm, Vidyapeetha 1.45 cm, Nayandahalli 1.35 cm and RR Nagar 1.15 cm of rain.

The Met department has sounded a yellow alert 13 districts including the three coastal districts of Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada. The other districts are Belagavi, Dharwad, Haveri, Chikkamagalur, Chitradurga, Hassan, Kodagu, Mandya, Ramanagara, Shivamogga. These districts are expected to received 6-11 cm of rain, the department said.
